Seasonal harmonies

As we move into the next season, I started thinking about my outgoing summer wardrobe and what we will expect to see in the coming months.

Each season, the fashion industry influences what colour and style harmonies we should expect to buy, often presenting us with the essential key piece, a ‘must-have’, for the season.

As I won’t be purchasing any clothes this year, I wondered just how many colour palettes I already had hanging in my closet.

This year, Pantone released two key colours with a fashion palette of supporting colours that we will see in the shops and fashion magazines.

The two colours of the year are Rose Quartz and Serenity:

There are also various fashion colours that support this year’s palette and you can explore the details on Pantone’s website. It’s a great resource because it also shows you what harmonious colours pair well with each other. Here are the ten colours for this year:

The main theme throughout this year’s colours reflects calmness and serenity, countered with fun and bold colours. It reflects slowing down and turning off incoming information.

In light of this, it seems fitting I undertake my decluttering process and challenge not to buy any new clothes.

A peruse through the full fashion palette already reveals several options in my wardrobe, not forgetting scarves, which are a useful way to add a splash of trending colours. Here are some selections I found using this year’s colourways as a guide:
